Abstract In the present work we investigate Newtonian limit of higher-derivative gravity theories with more than four derivatives in action, including non-analytic logarithmic terms resulting from one-loop quantum corrections. The first part paper deals occurrence curvature singularities metric classical models. It is shown that case local theories, even though scalars are regular, invariants involving curvatures can still diverge. Indeed, prove if action contains $$2n+6$$ 2 n + 6 both scalar and spin-2 sectors, then all curvature-derivative at most 2 n covariant while there exist $$2n+2$$ singular. regularity these be achieved some classes nonlocal theories. second paper, show leading corrections do not change limit. Finally, also consider infrared solutions verify universality correction to potential investigated paper.

Resummation and Higher Order Renormalization in 4D Quantum Gravity
Higher order renormalization in 4D quantum gravity is carried out using dimensional regularization with great care concerning the conformal-mode dependence. In this regularization, resummation can be automatically performed without making any assumption, like done by David-Distler-Kawai. In this paper we consider a model of 4D quantum gravity coupled to QED. The renormalizability is directly ch...
متن کاملNonlocal higher order evolution equations
In this paper we study the asymptotic behavior of solutions to the nonlocal operator ut(x, t) = (−1) n−1 (J ∗ Id − 1)n (u(x, t)), x ∈ R which is the nonlocal analogous to the higher order local evolution equation vt = (−1)(∆)v. We prove that solutions to both equations have the same asymptotic decay rate as t goes to infinity. Moreover, we prove that the solutions of the nonlocal problem conver...
متن کاملLarge quantum gravity effects and nonlocal variables
An interesting effect found recently, that points out to potential problems and/or surprises that could be found in quantum gravity, is the presence, in the quantization of certain midisuperspaces, of what has been called “large quantum gravity effects” (LE). In the original analysis of Ashtekar [1], the model chosen is rotationally symmetric 2+1 gravity coupled to a massless scalar field (a sp...
متن کاملNonlocal ghost formalism for quantum gravity
The quantum theory of a free particle on a portion of two-dimensional Euclidean space bounded by a circle and subject to non-local boundary conditions gives rise to bulk and surface states. Starting from this well known property, a counterpart for gravity is here considered. In particular, if spatial components of metric perturbations are set to zero at the boundary, invariance of the full set ...
متن کاملNon-local Properties in Euclidean Quantum Gravity Non-local Properties in Euclidean Quantum Gravity
In the one-loop approximation for Euclidean quantum gravity, the boundary conditions which are completely invariant under gauge transformations of metric perturbations involve both normal and tangential derivatives of the metric perturbations h 00 and h 0i , while the h ij perturbations and the whole ghost one-form are set to zero at the boundary. The corresponding one-loop divergency for pure ...
